Batik is a resort-wear boutique in the heart of Chicago. They came to us looking to build a brand for their new retail store - one that could extend seamlessly into an e-commerce experience and bring coastal wear to customers year-round.

We set out to blend coastal and southern influences with an aesthetic that still felt at home in an urban environment. Watercolor textures, their signature batik pattern, and a roughed, stamped submark introduced a sense of warmth and travel, reminiscent of a well-worn passport. Their marks also incorporate an Indonesian flower, honoring the birthplace of batik, and palm leaves as a subtle nod to southern living.

From there, we created custom artwork and collateral for launch, including window graphics during construction, in-store prints, hang tags, tote bags, business cards, polymailers, packaging inserts, and social assets.

We carried the brand into a custom Shopify website, weaving in passport-inspired linework, watercolor illustrations, organic shapes, and a hero video that shares the heart behind Batik. The project wrapped with a visit to Chicago, celebrating their opening and seeing the brand come to life throughout the boutique.
